The Centre for Mediation in Africa invites our students, staff and members of the public to share their experiences, thoughts and feelings as the current South African political crisis, triggered by the incarceration of former president Jacob Zuma on 8 July 2021, unfolds. This blog hopes to gather both expert commentary and reflections on real experiences, as the two are inevitably linked, and offer a holistic reading of the crisis.

Submit 800-1200 word submissions to: info@centreformediationafrica.org.

Through our research and teaching, the CMA is engaged in the idea of ‘low theory’, and the decolonial commitment to prioritise not only marginalised voices but also voices that express themselves in a diversity of ways. In keeping with the challenge to decolonise and develop curriculum and research that is relevant and real, rigorously researched and innovative, this blog will be part of our research into conflict and peacebuilding through an analysis of the experiences, feelings and reflections expressed by the bloggers.
