Our WOMED project offers a more robust understanding of women’s roles in peace processes as peacemakers and mediators from an African perspective. Through an extensive state-of-the-art literature review and interviews with women mediators across Africa, it identifies the gaps and challenges that prevent women’s inclusion as mediators in peace-making and draws lessons from women’s impactful and extensive involvement in mediation on the continent.
