Ms Nontando Ndhlovu

Nontando Ndhlovu is a PhD candidate in the Department of Political Science and a researcher at the Centre for Mediation in Africa. She holds a Master of Arts degree in International Relations from the University of Pretoria. Her research primarily focuses on transitional justice and peacebuilding processes with a gendered perspective and an intersectional approach. The objective of her research is to ensure gender justice for women in post-conflict contexts. Her research interests also include gender-responsive governance, with a specific emphasis on women’s representation in the political leadership landscape. Her research holds significance not only within the African context but also beyond. Nontando Ndhlovu has been a recipient of research funding grants, including the Social Science Research Council (SSRC) Next Generation Social Sciences in Africa Fellowship, the National Research Foundation (NRF) Research Scholarship, and the University of Pretoria Doctoral Research Scholarship. She has also been selected as a 2024 Southern Voices Network for Peacebuilding (SVNP) Scholar at The Woodrow Wilson Center for Scholars, Africa Program, where she is currently engaged in a policy-oriented research project.
