The Centre for Mediation in Africa met with Nkosi Joyi to discuss training young people in Baziya as community peacebuilders. This initiative will equip participants, including members of the Joyi Foundation, with the skills to mediate conflicts and promote peaceful coexistence. The first day of training engaged young participants in discussions on key conflict dynamics in their community, including turf disputes and cultural practices. Through interactive sessions, participants explored mediation techniques and their role as peer mentors. The second and final day of training focused on practical mediation skills through role-playing exercises and peer discussions. Participants expressed concerns about gaining community recognition as mediators and identified mentorship as a key area of support.
